2013 Canadian film entries

“CINEMANOVELS” (2013 feature film directed by Terry Miles) “SARAH PREFERS TO RUN” (2013 feature film directed by Chloé Robichaud) The Canadian films screening at the Toronto International Film Festival were announced August 7th; they include entries in a number of festival programs:  Special Presentations, Contemporary World Cinema, Masters, Discovery, Vanguard, Short Cuts Canada.
“ALL THE WRONG REASONS” (2013 feature film directed by Gia Milani)This announcement also confirmed the inclusion of Gia Milani's All the Wrong Reasons, starring Cory Monteith — previously reported by the The Hollywood Reporter.

“WAKENING” (2013 short film directed by Danis Goulet)Also — for the first time ever — a short-film will be presented before the opening-night feature at the Elgin Theatre (The Fifth Estate).  The independently produced Canadian short "Wakening", will screen as part of a 'Stage to Screen' commemoration of the 100th year anniversary of the Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre.

On Tuesday August 13th, there will be new additions announced for Galas, Special Presentations, Contemporary World Cinema, TIFF Kids, and Wavelengths.
“ABUS DE FAIBLESSE” (2013 feature film directed by Catherine Breillat)
(It is anticipated that most, if not all, of the films announced by UniFrance on August 5, will also be confirmed.)

Notes from the Canadian film press launch

Besides the announcement of Canadian features (including Canada First and Canadian Open Vault) and the Short Cuts Canada program, there were some other note-worthy items from last week's press conference...
  • Opening nights (all Canadian films)...
  • Since Blackberry is a sponsor of the festival, the official mobile phone application is only available from BlackBerry App World (early reviews say the app is 'slow' and that it 'needs more content' – so we expect other unofficial apps to appear soon, for iPhone, Nokia and Android phones)

  • the new Lightbox centre kicks off it's official opening with a "free, and festive block party" on Sunday, September 12th, 12pm-4pm
